O Wretched Man That I Am!

Posted on in Gospel Truths

In Romans chapter 7, the apostle Paul goes into great depth concerning the struggle of the flesh against the spirit. The anguish of this man can be heard, and as Christians, we can all empathise with what he is saying. All Christians who are truly born again children of God delight to do the will of God in their inner man. However although we agree wholeheartedly with the law and commandments of God, we all face this great dilemma; the flesh waring against the spirit. The flesh is so alive and wants to dominate our Christian life. Paul writes in Romans 7:24, “O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?”. We can see in all his writings, that he had come to the conclusion that it is Jesus Christ himself and the victory that He wrought on the cross for us that will not only save us from our sin, but deliver us from this body of death. Sin and the law both dwell in our flesh and we will have this conflict raging in our members until we die and go to be with Him. In our hearts there is always a great yearning to please the Lord and to do His will. This can not be done in our own strength. Our strength is so limited. As we try to please the Lord in our own strength, we will eventually cry out, “Oh wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?”. This is why the Apostle Paul writes in all his epistles about the cross of Jesus Christ, not as a message alone but as an instrument of righteousness.  As we take up our cross every day and identify with Jesus Christ in His sufferings, death and resurrection, we will be able to live a victorious Christian life by the grace of God. Carrying the Heart of God

Posted on in Gospel Truths

“Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?” This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him.” So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.” And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest Continue reading →

On The Right Foundation

Posted on in Gospel Truths

It is exciting living in times where the Lord is rebuilding and restoring His church to be established on one foundation; Jesus Christ, “the Cornerstone of the church”. We are all vulnerable and can easily stray away from this simple foundation and exchange it for a man-made, worldly one.

Paul was deeply concerned for the Corinthian church because they were starting to follow men in the flesh, and he encourages the church in 1 Corinthians 3:4-7 to take their eyes off himself, Apollos, Cephas and others, and clearly points them to the right foundation – Jesus Christ. He warns the church Continue reading →

The Message of Christ and Him Crucified

Posted on in Gospel Truths

The church today is so full of the world, compromise and sin, not to mention that the gospel being preached is in most cases either motivational speaking, pure heresy or dead sermons!! But the Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 2: 1-4: I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.

My intention in this article is not to criticise the church nor ministers of the gospel, for in many cases they stand condemned themselves as reflected in 2 Peter 2: 1-3 & 18-20: But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their Continue reading →

What is Christian Music?

Posted on in Gospel Truths

Music is a powerful medium or tool that is either used for the Lord or Satan. In order for us to fully understand what music is, and more importantly, what Christian music is, we need to understand what Jesus says about ‘true worshippers’ in John 4:24. These are the kind of worshipers whom the Father is seeking… those who worship Him in spirit and truth.

When Abraham took his son Isaac to offer him before the Lord as a sacrifice (Genesis 22), he said to his servants, “Stay here… we will worship and then come back to you.”

Worship is a sacrifice, not a feeling. Whether we feel like worshiping or not, we worship by faith. The writer of Hebrews says, “Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.” (Hebrews 13:15)

Who is the author of music?

The Lord is the author of music. In heaven, the angels and elders are worshiping before the throne of God day and night (Revelation 5:11-12). We were created to praise Him: “This people I have formed for Myself; they shall declare My praise.” (Isaiah 43:21) Continue reading →

Restoration of the Ministry of the Holy Spirit

Posted on in Gospel Truths

As the Lord starts to revive His people, key elements are going to be restored to the church, like repentance and the preaching of the cross. This will be the preaching of the cross in its purest form, as the apostle Paul spoke about in all his epistles (1 Corinthians 2:1-5). This gospel will bring about true and genuine repentance, and will leave no regret (2 Corinthians 7:10).

The third element that will be restored is the ministry of the Holy Spirit. This is what I want to share with you: baptism in, and the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
We see very clearly from the scriptures that Jesus only started His public ministry after He was baptized in the Holy Spirit (Luke 3:21 & Luke 4:1). Many people have been baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. In Ephesians 5:18, Paul encourages us to be full of the Holy Spirit.

However, being baptized in the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues is just the beginning. In order for us to be filled with the Spirit, we must die to the things of the world, to religion, and to things that we allow into our hearts and lives that are not necessarily sins, but are a distraction to what the Lord wants to do in us and through us. I believe in my heart that the Lord has called us to live consecrated lives before Him, with no legalism attached. All too often, when the Spirit of the Lord convicts us, we shrug it off as something that we can attend to later. But I believe that in the days in which we are living, and in the current move of the Spirit, that when the Spirit of the Lord speaks to us, and we are sensitive to Him, we’ll find the grace to let go of things that are a distraction to us, or sin in our lives. An Uncompromising Christian Life

Posted on in Gospel Truths

John the Baptist came with a powerful message of repentance, he was a voice crying in the wilderness, preparing the way of the Lord. When Jesus came to the Jordan to be baptized by John, John tried to prevent him because, at that moment, his eyes were opened and he realised Jesus was the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.

John’s message was a message of repentance preparing the people for the coming of Jesus and His ministry.  John’s voice was literally one calling in the wilderness but today I feel the voice of John the Baptist is calling once again. Only this time the wilderness is the church where the pure doctrine of Christ, and the preaching of the cross, is sadly absent in the majority of churches. Continue reading →
